OVER 35 YEARS OF MANAGEMENT

& ENGINEERING EXPERIENCE

Jim Yates has over 35 years of progressive management and engineering experience in the US Navy, construction, crane operations, heavy rigging, and heavy transports. He is a licensed engineer and is a current committee and subcommittee member for ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers).  Jim serves on P30 (Planning for Load Handling Activities), B30.1 (Jacks, Industrial Rollers, Air Casters, and Hydraulic Gantries), and B30.31 (Self-Propelled, Towed and Remote-Controlled Hydraulic Platform Trailers).

As the Senior VP of Engineering Technical Services for Barnhart Crane & Rigging for 18 years, Jim was instrumental in developing programs to improve safety, quality, fabrication, and engineering. During his tenure there, the company was awarded numerous “Rigging and Transportation Jobs of the Year” and was certified as an ISO 9001 company.​

Jim served in the submarine service after his graduation from the Naval Academy and was licensed as a Senior Reactor Operator for commercial Nuclear Power Plants. He has a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Connecticut.
